Boonville-- Margaret Bailey, 82, formerly of Main Street passed away on December 4, 2009 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was born in Friendship, NY on August 28, 1927 a daughter of Edward and Theresa Romanelli Storms. She graduated from Lyons Falls High School and on August 21, 1954 at St. John’s Church, Lyons Falls Margaret married Edmund G. Bailey. He died on August 25, 1997. She began work at the Gould Paper Company, Lyons Falls in the administration office. For many years she was a legal secretary for area attorneys including George Pratt, Utica, James Moseman, Remsen, and James O’Rourke, Boonville. She also was a court clerk for the Town of Boonville and Remsen for many years and was very active in the daughters of Isabella where she was a state regent. She was also a secretary of the NYS Woodsman’s Field Days Association many years ago.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Andrew and Lynn Bailey, Boonville; Anthony and Jennifer Bailey, Malone; Bernard Bailey, Boonville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Victoria and John Paparelli, San Antonio, T.X.; Virginia Bailey, Medford, N.J.; Vera Howard, San Antonio, T.X.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 8 at 11:30AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville with Fr. Sean O’Brien officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling Hours will be on Monday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Mills Funeral Home 301 Post Street, Boonville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to the St. Joseph’s Church Memorial fund.
